Childcare CPR & first aid requirements
First Aid & CPR Cameroon
If you work in childcare in Cameroon — whether at a daycare, preschool, home-based care, or camp — first aid and CPR certification is not optional. It's a licensing requirement, and for good reason: children are among the most vulnerable to choking, allergic reactions, and injuries. Being prepared to respond can mean everything.
What Cameroon requires
The 2017 decree governing crèches and day-care centres places medical follow-up in the hands of health personnel within the technical supervision unit and requires every facility to sign an agreement with a health centre for emergency care. It sets no numerical ratio of first aiders, but in practice it expects children to be surrounded by adults who can respond to a sudden illness or accident and who are connected to a source of care. Staff trained in life-saving first aid answer that expectation directly.
Anaphylaxis and medication administration
Epinephrine auto-injectors are not distributed nationwide and can only be obtained through importation or on a named-patient basis, and no Cameroonian rule obliges day-cares to keep them on hand. The strongest safeguard, then, is a caregiver who can recognise a severe allergic reaction, alert the partner health service without delay, and administer any prescribed medication — with the parents' written consent — kept safely out of children's reach.
How our courses meet these requirements
A recognized, standards-based certification in pediatric first aid and CPR meets Cameroon’s requirement and keeps your team ready to act.
Don't wait for renewal day
When a young child chokes, drowns or collapses, the first minutes decide the outcome, and it is almost always a caregiver, not a doctor, who is there for them. Training in first aid and CPR turns that helpless moment into confident action and shows families their children are in capable hands. A recognised, standards-based certification meets what the regulation asks of a facility and, more importantly, means a prepared adult is always close by.
